Early education; youthful labors; LDS baptism, 1845; immigration to America, 1848; move to DeKalb County, Illinois, 1848; arrival in the Salt Lake Valley, 1852; settlement in Little Cottonwood, Utah; move to Cedar Fort, Utah, 1854; marriage to Catherine Thomas, 1857; move to Wellsville, Utah, to teach school, 1860; call to Great Britain on a mission, 1871; county officer in Cache County; service as clerk during the construction of the Logan Temple; assistant temple recorder; marriage to Mary Ann Porch.

The Logan Temple Time Books reflect labor time spent on the construction of the Logan Temple in Logan, Utah from 1877 to 1884. Cache Valley farmers divided their time between farming and contributing labor at the temple block.
